I was born in Gaiman. I lived in Ty Newydd, my grandparents' farm, till I was 7 years old. I started in Bedthesdsa Primary School. That was a lovely time, when I would come home from school and have fun with friends, racing on horseback or talking on the corner where we would all go our own way.

The situation on the farm was bad - no money for the harvest and Dada found work in Gaiman - the nearest town to our farm. I completed my schooling in Gaiman, in the primary school and at high school - Coleg Camwy.

I wanted to be a teacher and so I had to travel to the College in Trelew every day. Ever since I was accepted to be a teacher I've worked with small children.

In 1996, for the first time, a Welsh Nursery School, Y Ddraig Fach, opened in Trelew. After a while, the teacher couldn't continue with the work and the parents were eager to maintain the school; so the St David's Committee spoke to me, as they knew that I was an infants teacher and a Welsh speaker. I began in 1997 with the help of the parents and the Committee and have continued with the work ever since. I'll never forget Eleri Hughes, a Welsh teacher, and her help every Friday at the school.

I work with 3-5 year old children. They learn by singing, reciting and playing. For my work here, I received a scholarship to go to Lampeter for two months in 1998 and then a month in Carmarthen to do a course for tutors. Studying in Trinity College Carmarthen was a very special experience and I also spend some time observing lessons at Ysgol y Dderwen.

I stayed for 15 days in a flat at the college and for another 15 days at the home of Rhian Evans, where I was warmly welcomed and where I felt very much at home.

By now the Nursery School meets every Tuesday and Friday. As well as learning Welsh, the children compete in Welsh at the Eisteddfod and take part in Noson Lawen evenings.

I'm very grateful to my parents for speaking Welsh with me, and especially to my mother who spoke Welsh to me from the cradle. Were it not for their dedication, I would not have had the opportunity to visit Wales and I certainly would not have had the work of teaching Welsh to small children.
