Mae 1 Tachwedd yn ddiwrnod pwysig iawn i S4C - mae'r darlledwr yn 20 oed eleni. Dros y 20 mlynedd diwethaf mae'r gwasanaeth wedi newid tipyn; mae llawer mwy o oriau o raglenni Cymraeg ac mae S4C digidol yn cael ei ddarlledu ledled Prydain drwy loeren. Mae llawer o gyfresi wedi dod a mynd, ond mae rhai ffefrynnau, fel Pobol y Cwm, Noson Lawen a Dechrau Canu, yno o hyd!

Ers y dechrau, mae S4C wedi darparu ar gyfer dysgwyr. Erbyn hyn, yn ogystal â'r gyfres arobryn Welsh in a Week, newyddion Yr Wythnos a slot Cymraeg@11 ar S4C digidol, mae gwasanaethau is-deitlo Transl888 yn Saesneg ac 889 yn Gymraeg yn helpu dysgwyr i ddeall a dilyn y rhaglenni. November 1 is an important day for S4C - this year the broadcaster is 20 years old. Over the last twenty years the service has changed considerably; there are many more hours of Welsh language television and S4C digital is broadcast throughout Britain via satellite. Many series have come and gone, but some old favourites, like 'Pobol y Cwm', 'Noson Lawen' and 'Dechrau Canu', are still there!

From the beginning, S4C has provided for Welsh learners. Today, as well as series such as the award winning 'Welsh in a Week', the weekly news programme 'Yr Wythnos' and the 'Welsh@11' slot on S4C digital, its subtitling services - Transl888 in English and 889 in Welsh - help learners to understand and follow Welsh language programmes.
