The Tutor

Pretty, vivacious 26 year old Nia Parry is the series tutor on Welsh in a Week. If Chris de Burgh has his Lady in Red, Welsh in a Week has its real-life lady in pink, as Nia is mad about the colour! Can you spot the pink garment or accessory she has in most programmes?!

Born in Dwyran, Anglesey the family moved to Llandrillo-yn-Rhos near Colwyn Bay when she was five; she lived there with her parents and younger brother, Dylan until she moved to Swansea for her university years to study Welsh, Spanish and Psychology. While at university, she spent a summer vacation in Patagonia as an au pair.

Having graduated, Nia decided to see the world and set off to visit and work in countries as diverse as India, Nepal, Israel, Egypt and Turkey. Returning to Wales, she settled in Cardiff and began on a higher degree in the Welsh Department of University of Wales, Cardiff. She worked as a part-time Welsh tutor for Rhondda Cynon Taf before becoming a full time member of staff at the Welsh for Adults Teaching Centre in Cardiff.

At the beginning of 2001 she left her full time job to take up the offer of tutor on Welsh in a Week, where she has proved a success with both the production team and the learners. Having caught the television bug, Nia would now like to try her hand at a media career.
